Avalanche Stay Unbeaten In Postseason, Take 2-0 Series Lead Over Wild
The Colorado Avalanche remain unbeaten in the 2026 NHL playoffs, taking Game 2 versus the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday.
While Game 1 didn’t have 15 goals, Game 2 still showed how scary the Colorado Avalanche are. A 5-2 Game 2 victory over the Minnesota Wild sees the Avalanche remain unbeaten this postseason, extending their win streak to six straight wins.
The production got started early, as Martin Necas scored just 2:51 into the first period. But Kirill Kaprizov stunned the Ball Arena crowd, evening things for the Wild less than 10 seconds after Necas opened the scoring. Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog then struck with his third goal of the playoffs on the power play, giving Colorado a 2–1 lead heading into the intermission.
When the second period began, the Avalanche once again beat Filip Gustavsson early, as Nicolas Roy’s third goal of the playoffs restored the two-goal lead less than two minutes into the frame. While Roy’s tally stood as the only goal of the period, the third saw Nathan MacKinnon continue to be a game-breaker in the series, finishing off a three-point night with his first goal of the game—a power-play marker that gave Colorado a 4–1 lead.

Just over a minute later, the Wild would cut that lead down to two again, thanks to a goal from Marcus Johansson. Minnesota would fail to close the gap any further, as Valeri Nichushkin’s empty-netter would put the finishing touches on the night for Colorado.
Avalanche Finding Their Groove The Deeper They Go In the Playoffs
After the Los Angeles Kings found ways to contain the Avalanche in the first two games of the series, Colorado’s offense has fully broken out since Game 3 of Round 1. Over their past four games, the Avalanche have scored 23 goals, with six players recording six points or more, while only two skaters have yet to register a point in the playoffs.
That balance—combined with top stars like Nathan MacKinnon, Gabriel Landeskog, and Cale Makar continuing to step up—shows why this Colorado team is a heavy favorite to march to another Stanley Cup Final.
The series switches to St. Paul, Minnesota on May 9th for Game 3.
