3 Trade Candidates for the Anaheim Ducks This Season

The Anaheim Ducks are not looking to be competitive yet. To gain draft capital, the Ducks may consider three trade candidates.

The Anaheim Ducks are still in their rebuilding stage going into 2025. With a record of 15-17-4, the Ducks aren’t likely to make the playoffs anytime soon, prompting the possible trading of these three players. There may be more players on the block than those listed below, but here are three leading trade candidates from the Ducks organization.

Frank Vatrano’s Consistency Can Help Many Teams

Frank Vatrano, the former New York Ranger, has been a reliable forward for the Ducks organization. Tallying 19 points (9g, 10a) in 35 games with the club this season. Vatrano, 30, is nearing the end of his three-year. $10.95 million deal ($3.65 million cap hit).

Vatrano has the offensive instincts to make him a prominent goal scorer in the league. His effectiveness in the offensive zone creates scoring chances and puts pressure on the opposing defense. Additionally, Vatrano is incredibly adaptive since he can switch from being a goal scorer straight into being a physical presence. Vatrano has caught the attention of multiple teams in the past, and his consistency would possibly lure them back in.

John Gibson is Championship Potential on a Non-Championship Team

John Gibson, 31, has been with the Ducks ever since his NHL debut in the 2013-14 season. He has been deemed the greatest Ducks goaltender of all time for good reason. With Anaheim, Gibson has put up a .910 SV% and a 2.90 GAA with 24 shutouts.

Gibson’s athleticism and effectiveness under pressure make him a goaltender that teams would gladly trade for. While his contract may be an issue to some teams ($6.4 million cap hit for two more seasons), cap space isn’t an issue for Anaheim, and they gladly take bad contracts to assist.

Robby Fabbri Provides Reliable Depth Forward Coverage

With ten points (6g, 4a) in 23 games, Robby Fabbri, 28 has looked promising with the Ducks so far. He is in the last year of his three-year, $12 million ($4 million cap hit) bridge deal. Paired alongside Mason McTavish and Cutter Gauthier, Fabbri has established himself as a core piece to the Ducks’ bottom-six forward group.

Regarding what’s on the table, many attributes make Fabbri attractive across the league. Fabbri is very versatile on the powerplay, switching between the line’s scorer and the main distributor in the blink of an eye. Despite his height of 5 ’10”, Fabbri carries a lot of grit and is not afraid to get into puck battles along the boards. Any team would benefit from his playstyle, and he would fit perfectly in any bottom-six role.
