Scott Laughton Bio:
Scott Laughton has proven himself to be a very reliable bottom-six forward in the NHL. As a long-time member of the Philadelphia Flyers, the 31 year old was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs last season. He is more known for his defensive side of the game as well as his ability to get under his opponents skin. At 6’1″, 190 pounds, Laughton brings great leadership qualities. He also is known for his penalty killing and skating. He won’t score 30 goals in a season, but he will lead the team in defensive zone face-off starts.
Draft Year:
Laughton was selected 20th overall in the 2012 NHL Draft. A draft that was highlighted by Nail Yakupov, Ryan Murray, Alex Galchenyuk and Griffin Reinhart. Laughton has looked to be one of the better players from the class over his 13 year career.
Key Info:
Since breaking into the league in 2012-13, Laughton has been a mainstay in every lineup he has played in. His highest scoring season came back in 2022-23 with the Flyers, when he had 18 goals and 25 assists for 43 points.
Laughton was traded to the Maple Leafs at the 2025 NHL Trade Deadline. The package going back to the Flyers was Nikita Grebenkin and a conditional first-round pick in the 2027 NHL Draft.
