Predicting Landing Spots For NHL’s Top Stars at the 2026 Trade Deadline Pt. 2

Get the latest insights on the Trade Deadline and its impact on teams and players. Stay informed with our analysis.

In part two of the 2026 NHL trade deadline predictor, we are going to look at a few more big names that could be on the move. In part one of the series, we went over where Artemi Panarin could land. I also predicted that Rasmus Andersson would end up with the Toronto Maple Leafs, and by the time part two rolled around, he had already been dealt to the Vegas Golden Knights. Lastly, I projected that Nazem Kadri would reunite with the Colorado Avalanche.

Today, the focus shifts to where the Schenn brothers could potentially end up, as well as Edmonton Oilers forward Andrew Mangiapane.

Brayden Schenn to the Colorado Avalanche

As mentioned above in part one, we explored a potential Nazem Kadri reunion in Denver. However, if Calgary’s asking price for Kadri remains sky high, or if he ultimately lands elsewhere, Colorado General Manager Chris MacFarland will need a clear Plan B. That is where Brayden Schenn enters the conversation.

The St. Louis Blues are currently sitting sixth in the Central Division and appear ready to get younger. Which makes their 34-year-old captain a realistic trade candidate. Schenn is an elite faceoff specialist and a versatile forward who can play both center and wing. For the Avalanche, he would provide the heavy, physical presence and Cup-winning pedigree they value in their middle six, especially if they miss out on the Kadri sweepstakes.

Luke Schenn to the Toronto Maple Leafs

Stop us if you have heard this before. The Toronto Maple Leafs are interested in bringing Luke Schenn back into the fold. With Chris Tanev sidelined due to injury, the right side of the blue line looks thin. Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving could pivot toward a very familiar option.

Schenn is currently playing for a Winnipeg Jets team that has struggled mightily this season after last year’s Presidents’ Trophy win. If he is made available, he would be an ideal target for a potential third stint with the club.

He brings the net-front clearing ability and physical edge that Morgan Rielly has thrived alongside in the past. At a manageable $2.75 million cap hit, Schenn would be a cost-effective solution for a Toronto team that is tight on assets and flexibility.

Andrew Mangiapane to the Anaheim Ducks

The Oilers’ experiment with Mangiapane appears to be coming to an end. After being a healthy scratch multiple times in January, the 29-year-old winger will most likely be dealt by the 2026 NHL Trade Deadline

The Anaheim Ducks make a lot of sense as a landing spot. They have ample cap space and a clear need for veteran scoring to support their young core. Mangiapane’s high motor game and defensive responsibility would fit well with what Anaheim is building. For Edmonton, moving his $3.6 million salary would provide much-needed flexibility to pursue a top-pairing defenceman ahead of the deadline.
