Jets Extend Goaltender Laurent Brossoit on 1-Yr Deal

Reports are the Winnipeg Jets have extended goaltender Laurent Brossoit to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

You can scratch the Winnipeg Jets off the list of potential teams heading into the free agent market to grab a backup netminder as the team now has their goaltending tandem set for next season. Reports are that the hockey club as extended Laurent Brossoit to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Already with one of the top goalies in Connor Hellebuyck inked to a long-term deal, it was just about getting something done with Brossoit so the Jets could focus on other areas, mainly their blue line.

We’ll have more to come from this report and likely reaction from Brossoit as the news becomes available.

As Pierre LeBrun notes, “Take one name off the pending UFA goalie carousel.” In a market flooded with goalies, it’s interesting that Brossoit’s name came up very little in rumors. It must just be a matter of comfort level and security. No need to test things out.

Brossoit posted a .925 save percentage in 21 games for the Jets in 2018-19 and put up a record of 13-6-2.
