Insider Confirms Rasmus Andersson Trade Report: One Team Getting Close

It appears a trade involving Rasmus Andersson is close as four teams wrestle for the right to acquire him. Where will Andersson choose to go?

Yesterday, we reported that approximately four teams were in the mix for Rasmus Andersson, making their respective pushes to acquire him in a trade. Among those teams are the Boston Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights, Dallas Stars, and, surprisingly, the Vancouver Canucks.

On Saturday, Darren Dreger didn’t report all four teams, but he did confirm that it looks like four franchises remain in the hunt.

He notes:

“Things can develop quickly. However, sources say 4 teams remain in the mix for Flames Dman, Rasmus Andersson. Two teams in the east and two in the west. Boston and Vegas are strong contenders. Unless there’s progress, there’s a decent chance Andersson plays today for Cgy.”

Dreger did say that he doesn’t believe the Detroit Red Wings are in the mix.

The Bruins appear to remain the leaders in the Andersson chase, with several less-trusted outlets reporting the trade has already happened. The Empty Netters podcast posted, “Tons of interest for Rasmus Andersson, but it looks like Boston has won the race. An extension will be a part of the deal that will be incredible for both sides. Stay tuned.”

Is The Bruins Deal for Andersson Actually Done?

Meanwhile, Jimmy Murphy has been all over the Rasmus Andersson to Boston talk. His latest updates noted:

“Apologies for late-night/early-morning update, but I fell asleep around 10 and missed a message. Hearing through the same source who said the #NHLBruins were out on Andersson because of no extension, that Andersson changed his mind, and he, the Bruins, and #Flames are ‘on the same page now.’ For those asking why Andersson’s change of heart, keep in mind the #NHLBruins have two of his former teammates, Zadorov and E. Lindholm, to help recruit him. Also, they’re an improved team that still has Swayman, McAvoy, and Pastrnak, as well as youth in Minten and soon Hagens.”

Joe Haggerty writes, “Andersson definitely fits a need for the Bruins as a top-4 righty. Playing 24 minutes a night and has managed to be a plus on a dreadful Calgary team. One would suspect Mason Lohrei would have to be a part of the trade for multiple reasons.”

If a trade is close, one has to wonder if the Flames will hold Andersson out of the lineup versus the New York Islanders.
