Wild Want Kaprizov to Recruit Highly Coveted Trade Target

Could the Minnesota Wild be targeting Malkin in a trade? Explore the latest insights on Malkin’s potential move.

The Minnesota Wild might not be done making splashes this season, and one analyst/insider believes general manager Bill Guerin could be targeting the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Suggesting the Penguins are caught in a tough spot because of their place in the standings and new ownership, GM Kyle Dubas is walking a fine line, despite having several key pieces that he could trade for a solid return. Among them is Evgeni Malkin.

Malkin may be who the Wild are eyeing.

Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos writes:

“There are teams that would dearly love to land Evgeni Malkin, though he’s in full control of the situation with a no-movement clause in the final season of his contract. There’s talk of Minnesota GM Bill Guerin laying low in the weeds looking to make another significant trade, and wondering if Russian Kirill Kaprizov can help convince Malkin to join the Wild for a playoff run. If Malkin allows it, expect him to move before the trade deadline.”

The idea of Kaprizov and Malkin on the same team is wild (pun intended). Two Russian superstars working together, right after the team added arguably the best defenseman in the NHL in Quinn Hughes? It would be hard to imagine the Wild wouldn’t become an immediate Stanley Cup contender.
