Tristan Jarry’s Injury Update Brings Encouraging News for Oilers
Head coach Kris Knoblauch shared that Tristan Jarry’s return for the Edmonton Oilers can come this upcoming week.
On Saturday morning, Edmonton Oilers netminder Tristan Jarry took in his first full team skate since his injury. Had been skating on his own and during optional/limited team skates, but he looks good to return, which head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed after the pre-game skate.
Knoblauch shared that Jarry’s return can come this upcoming week.
Jarry is unbeaten in three starts for the Oilers this season, but he pulled himself out of a game when something felt off. He was ruled out for a couple of weeks and has not since returned. Jarry’s placement on LTIR was retroactive to Dec. 18, meaning he is eligible to return as early as Monday against the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Oilers have gone 5-4 in Jarry’s absence, with both Connor Ingram and Calvin Pickard sharing starts and performing fairly well. Ingram has picked up three of the five wins, looking calm in goal and having only one outing that wasn’t where the Oilers would need him to be to secure the backup role.

What’s Next for the Oilers in Goal?
Jarry’s return will spark questions about which goalie the Oilers keep. The easy thing to do is send Ingram back down, as he’s waiver-exempt for a few more games. But, it could be Pickard that the Oilers consider moving. Placing him on waivers would be a risk.
