Trade Rumblings: Canucks Inquire About Bruins Forward Pavel Zacha

NHL insider Elliotte Friedman is reporting that the Vancouver Canucks have contacted the Boston Bruins about Pavel Zacha. Friedman believes these talks actually go back months and that Zacha might be open to joining the Canucks.

“Pavel Zacha and Vancouver. Now my buddy Rick Dhaliwal reported that the Canucks contacted the Bruins this week about Zacha. That’s true, and I think it’s been going on for quite some time. I think it’s all the way going back to the summer. The Canucks and Bruins have been on off about this. You know Zacha is not in the last year of his deal, he has another year. Teams are looking for centers. Boston doesn’t have to do anything here it doesn’t want to do, but this is kind of been a dance that Canucks and some other team seeing if they can pry Zacha out of there. One thing about Vancouver, though in this case, I do not believe they are on Zacha’s no trade list.”

The Bruins snapped a six-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Colorado Avalanche, improving to 4-6-0 to start the 2025-26 season. As the team looks to regain form, GM Don Sweeney is reportedly open to roster changes and has been taking calls on players such as Zacha and Casey Mittelstadt. According to TFP’s David Pagnotta, both names have begun circulating around the league, with the Vancouver Canucks showing interest.

Pagnotta noted on Sekeres & Price that Canucks GM Patrik Allvin and president Jim Rutherford are exploring options, and Boston could be among their targets.
