Telling Video Fuels More Talk of Quinn Hughes Trade Momentum

A recent video of Quinn Hughes has led many to believe his play is an indication he’s looking to be traded.

Quinn Hughes has drawn some attention over the past 24 hours, following footage of a shift in the game between the Colorado Avalanche and Vancouver Canucks making the rounds on social media. In the video, it’s pointed out that Hughes — one of the best defensemen in the world — is simply floating around the ice, doing absolutely nothing that resembles an effort.

Several accounts posted the video, but the World Hockey Report caption pretty much sums up what most seem to be thinking as they watch Hughes skate around in circles. “I don’t think Quinn Hughes wants to be in Vancouver anymore. Wtf is this effort.”

Another person wrote, “This is actually insane bro send Quinn Hughes on the next flight to Jersey.” Another person added, “He drifted halfway to Jersey…” Scott Wheeler added, “Quinn Hughes has already left Vancouver and it’s sad. I feel for Canucks fans, man.”

There were additional comments suggesting he was gassed, both physically and mentally, from all the play and the talk surrounding him. Hughes has looked distraught and unhappy in recent media scrums, and it might be that all of his chatter is simply becoming too much.

‘That is what being at the end of your run with a team, and the end of your two-minute shift looks like hahaha.’ A few were upset with Hughes: “I’m serious, get this guy off my team. I don’t care how good you are. This is unacceptable for anybody, but the captain of the team? Completely ridiculous.”

It certainly was odd to see Hughes phoning it in like that.

Expect the Hughes Trade Talk To Gain Steam

The New Jersey Devils are the team most frequently linked to Hughes. His brothers are there and one has to imagine he would be more motivated to play with them than what is seen in this clip. The Canucks aren’t the only team that would show interest.

Elliotte Friedman asked while on the Morning Cuppa Hockey, “Can you see [Yzerman] not being interested in Quinn Hughes? Can you see Hughes not being interested in Detroit when the time comes? So I think they’re very legit, and Detroit has centers…and I’m not talking about the depth guys.” Friedman added, “Don’t forget, Jim Rutherford and Steve Yzerman did a deal out of nowhere a couple years ago; so I always look at that.”
