Sidney Crosby Addresses Whether Milan 2026 Will be His Final Olympics
Could Milan 2026 be Sidney Crosby’s final Olympic Games? See what he had to say about it and what it means for his NHL future.
Very few athletes are more beloved by their country than Sidney Crosby is in Canada. The Pittsburgh Penguins superstar has done it all when donning the red and white, no moment bigger than his infamous Golden Goal to secure victory in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Having achieved just about everything you could imagine on the international stage, many are wondering what Crosby has left to give.
He will, of course, be at the forefront for Team Canada at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics, but will that be it for Captain Canada?
Crosby provided fans with an answer on Tuesday:
“I hope it’s not. But if it is, I hope that I can make the most of this great opportunity. But who knows? I want to play as long as I can,” Crosby said.
The 38-year-old just began the first season of the two-year, $17.4 million contract extension he signed with the Penguins in 2024, continuing to earn his patented $8.7 million in average annual salary.
Crosby Could Play As Long As He Wants
As Crosby mentioned himself, he wants to play as long as he can, and given that he remains one of the best players in the game, there’s no telling how many more years are left in his illustrious career.
Crosby has tallied 21 points (12 goals, nine assists) in 19 games to start the 2025-26 season, and that’s without even appearing to have reached his highest level.

Some would say he’s turning back the clock, but this is what Crosby’s done since the day he stepped into the NHL. The consistency and longevity now in year 21 is remarkable and comparable to that of fellow all-time great athletes like LeBron James and Tom Brady.
It’s all going to come to a close at some point, but he continues to roll along, and we should know by now to never count anything out when it comes to Crosby.
