Seth Jarvis Replacing Brayden Point at Olympics for Team Canada
Tampa Bay Lightning star forward Brayden Point has been ruled out of the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics and Seth Jarvis is in.
Tampa Bay Lightning star forward Brayden Point has been ruled out of the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan, sources confirm. The decision comes amid ongoing recovery from a knee injury sustained on January 12 against the Philadelphia Flyers, which has sidelined the 29-year-old center for nearly a month.
Point, a key early addition to Team Canada’s roster and a two-time Stanley Cup champion, had been skating regularly and expressing optimism about joining the team. However, with Canada set to depart for Italy soon and no plans to carry an injury standby player, the timeline proved too tight for a safe return. In his place, Team Canada has selected Seth Jarvis.

The absence is a blow to Canada’s high-powered lineup, where Point was expected to add elite scoring and playmaking depth alongside stars like Connor McDavid. Potential replacements could have included Connor Bedard, Mark Scheifele, Zach Hyman, and others. Jarvis is getting the call.
Jarvis and Sam Bennett have both been named as replacements and were both on last year’s 4 Nations team.
