$65M Blues Star Surprisingly Jumps Up Insider’s Latest Trade Board
Robert Thomas is the latest St. Louis Blue to find himself in the rumor mill, appearing high on Chris Johnston’s updated trade board.
The St. Louis Blues are no strangers to slow starts, but this season, it doesn’t feel like a major second-half turnaround is on the horizon. As a result, GM Doug Armstrong has made it clear he’s willing to listen on just about anyone on his roster.
Rumors have swirled around players like Jordan Binnington, Jordan Kyrou, and Brayden Schenn for quite some time now, but it sounds like Armstrong could be willing to go even deeper. Star center Robert Thomas has appeared on TSN insider Chris Johnston’s latest trade board, ranking 11th overall and now the second-highest Blues player behind only Justin Faulk.
If Thomas were truly available, he’d instantly become one of the most intriguing trade assets on the market, given his age, contract, and skill set.
“Nothing is off the table in St. Louis, including a potential deal involving the team’s top-line center. How likely that is depends on how you interpret the fact that his name has started to circulate again in chatter with rival teams… It would take a serious offer to land Thomas in the prime of his career, but the Blues are open for business,”
The 26-year-old Thomas is in the third season of the eight-year, $65 million extension he signed with the Blues back in 2022. He’s produced 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) across 40 games played in 2025-26.
Robert Thomas Would Come at a Massive Cost
As Johnston referred to, it would take a lot to pry Thomas out of St. Louis, but if an opposing team steps up to the table with the right offer, a deal is there to be made.

Being in the middle of his prime on a very friendly long-term contract does make you wonder why the Blues would have any interest in shopping Thomas in the first place.
Perhaps Armstrong is so fed up with their inability to start a season on time that he wants to send a message. On the other hand, as good as Thomas is, he’s never going to be the best player on a championship team, so maybe he recognizes they’ve reached their ceiling with this group.
Regardless, expect nearly every team in the league to inquire. Thomas may not be the most household name, but he’s absolutely one of the best centers in hockey that doesn’t get talked about enough.
