Contender’s Trade Link To Nazem Kadri Could Be NHL’s Nightmare
Insider David Pagnotta recently linked a new team to Nazem Kadri, and it’s a scary thought for the rest of the NHL.
Nazem Kadri and the Calgary Flames have been playing better hockey in recent weeks, but their dreadful 5-13-3 start to the season put them so far behind the eight-ball that getting back into even just the wild-card mix feels impossible.
They haven’t given up on 2025-26 just yet, but the inevitable sell-off in the lead-up to the deadline is coming. Because of that, just about all of the veteran players in Calgary have popped up in trade rumors of late, and nobody has and will continue to draw more interest than Kadri.
While he loves being a Flame, he’s also itching to get back into the playoffs, so if the right opportunity arises, it’s hard to believe he’ll turn it down. The center-needy Montreal Canadiens have been heavily linked to the two-time All-Star for months now, but over the weekend, insider David Pagnotta revealed that a fellow Atlantic Division team has been circling around Kadri, and that’s the Florida Panthers.
“A couple of teams I look at there, we talked about Montreal before. The other team that I started hearing about recently, and we heard a little bit in the summer, but it wasn’t really much; Florida… The two teams that I was told just keep tabs on around Nazem Kadri were the Habs, which we know, and the Florida Panthers, that was an interesting one for me,”
The 35-year-old Kadri is in the fourth season of the seven-year, $49 million contract he signed to join the Flames as a UFA in 2022.
Nazem Kadri Would Fit Perfectly on the Florida Panthers
If there’s any player on the trade market that screams the Panthers, it’s Kadri.
He may not be the wrecking ball physically that he was back in his Toronto days, but that’s because the Flames desperately need his skill and point production.
Should Kadri get back into the postseason, there’s no doubt he’d bring a combination of the two, which exemplifies just about every Florida player, and that’s helped them get to three consecutive Stanley Cup Finals.

The Panthers already pried Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett out of Calgary to help them win back-to-back championships, so why not continue the trend and land Kadri in search of a three-peat?
