NHL Trade Talk Daily News: Josh Norris returned for Senators, Myers will and Joshua could play, McDavid returns from suspension tonight

Welcome to today’s NHL Trade Talk Daily News report (January 27). Each day, we’ll bring you key NHL news, which includes trade rumors, injury updates, and other news for the teams involved. Here, you can stay updated on the latest team news, potential trade rumors, and team news from around the NHL. In today’s news, the Senators’ Josh Norris returned ahead of schedule and helped his team skate home with a win. Dakota Joshua might be ready to return from his injury in Vancouver, but Tyler Myers will be in the team’s lineup against the Blues.

But the biggest news is that Connor McDavid has served his suspension, which was also handed out in the same game where Myers drew his. Oilers fans should expect McDavid to come back with a vengeance.

Josh Norris Finally Back in Action for the Senators

Great news for Ottawa Senators fans—Josh Norris is back on the ice after a brief injury absence. The 25-year-old center returned against Utah on Sunday, much sooner than initially expected. Norris had been sidelined for two games due to an upper-body injury. Still, with injuries to teammates Nick Cousins, Cole Reinhardt, and Noah Gregor, the Senators decided to re-insert Norris into the lineup. He’s looking to pick up where he left off this season.

On the season, Norris has been a key player for Ottawa. He’s scored 17 goals and added 10 assists (for 27 points) in 47 games. He has been a solid offensive player for his team. Norris was initially ruled out for this game, but with the team’s recent injuries, his quick recovery is a welcomed boost.

Dakota Joshua Close to Returning After Leg Injury

Good news for the Vancouver Canucks—Dakota Joshua is nearing a return to the lineup. The 28-year-old forward has been out of action since January 3rd due to a leg injury, missing the last 10 games. However, Joshua was part of Sunday’s practice. As a result, he’s likely ready for action. He’ll be a game-time decision for tonight’s game against the St. Louis Blues. Although he had not put up a point in seven straight games before the injury, the Canucks badly need his oomph on the ice. He adds the kind of physicality the team needs, especially with Kiefer Sherwood out for a time. If he does return, Joshua will add depth to the Canucks’ bottom-six forward group.

Joshua has been solid in his limited role this season, with two goals, two assists, 10 shots, and 83 hits in 24 games. If he can go tonight, his physical presence and tenacity on the ice will be welcomed as Vancouver bolsters its forward depth.

Tyler Myers Set to Return After Suspension

The Vancouver Canucks are getting a key player back, as Tyler Myers is eligible to return to the lineup on Monday after serving a three-game suspension. Myers was suspended for his cross-check on the OIlers’ Evan Bouchard during the end of the frustrating for both teams’ January 18th game. He’ll draw back into action for the Canucks game against St. Louis.

Myers has been a steady player for his team’s defense this season. He’s scored twice, registered 13 points, and has 83 blocked shots in 45 games. His veteran leadership matters to a team that is struggling to win. Canucks fans should be pleased to see him return to the lineup so he can help the team push toward the playoffs.

Connor McDavid Set to Return After Suspension

There’s good news for the Edmonton Oilers. Connor McDavid will be eligible to return to the lineup on Monday. He’s served his three-game suspension for cross-checking Vancouver’s Conor Garland on January 18. McDavid has been a point machine all season. He’s scored 20 goals and has 65 points in 43 games. He’ll rejoin the Oilers against the Kraken.

With McDavid back, Oilers fans should expect lineup changes. Watch for Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to return to the wing after playing as the team’s second-line center with McDavid gone. In addition, newcomer Kasperi Kapanen might become a healthy scratch.

McDavid is McDavid. When he comes back, he’ll be rearing to go. Expect a barrage of offense from the Oilers captain. Even though the team played well with him out of the lineup, the Oilers can’t help but improve with his return. They are seeking a high playoff spot, and McDavid should help them find it.
