Major Blow for Canadiens as Kaiden Guhle Sidelined 4–6 Weeks

Montreal Canadiens update: Kaiden Guhle will miss 4 to 6 weeks with a lower body injury, a significant loss for the team.

The Montreal Canadiens announced an update on several injuries affecting their roster. On Saturday morning, the team revealed the following:

“Defenseman Kaiden Guhle (lower body, 4 to 6 weeks) and forwards Kirby Dach (lower body, day-to-day) and Patrik Laine (lower body, day-to-day) will not play tonight. Forward Owen Beck has been recalled from the Laval Rocket (emergency recall).”

Guhle’s injury is the big news. The defenseman will miss 4-6 weeks with a lower-body injury, which is a huge blow for the roster. Owen Beck has been recalled under emergency conditions. Expect Arber Xhekaj and Jayden Struble to both be playing tonight on the blue line, with Beck and Joseph Veleno drawing in at forward.

Guhle has dealt with significant injury issues in recent seasons. Earlier this year, he suffered a lacerated quadriceps muscle during a game against the Winnipeg Jets on January 29. He required surgery to repair the damage and was ruled out for an indefinite period.

This latest setback will be added to a growing list of durability concerns for the young blueliner, who has struggled to stay healthy through his early NHL career.
