Edmonton Oilers
Latest NHL Trade Buzz: Predators, Oilers, Maple Leafs
The trade winds around the NHL are picking up, so what’s going on in Nashville, Edmonton, and Toronto?
We’ve officially reached American Thanksgiving, which, for the NHL, marks an important date on the calendar as 67.3% of teams on the inside of the playoff picture come this time of the year have wound up qualifying for the postseason since 2014-15.
It’s a much-talked-about point in the schedule, where the urgency rises around the league, and in turn, the trade rumors start to heat up, so which teams are generating the most buzz?
The Nashville Predators are last in the NHL, and all of their veterans are drawing attention; the Edmonton Oilers might finally be upgrading in net, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are doing all they can to make changes to their roster.
Just About Everyone Available in Nashville
The Predators are 2-6-2 in their last 10 games, and have plummeted into the basement of the league in the process.
Usual suspects in Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault continue to swirl around the rumor mill, both open to joining a contender should it reach that point. Ryan O’Reilly, on the other hand, could be tough to pry out of Nashville unless they come down from their current asking price. Juuse Saros has also been a hot topic of discussion, but his recent struggles have only made a potential deal more challenging to pull off.
Where does that leave superstars Roman Josi and Filip Forsberg, who would draw the most interest of them all? They’re more available than ever before, but will be ones to watch for in the offseason.
Oilers Connected to Multiple Goaltenders
It’s getting ugly in Edmonton, and after years of hanging onto hope that Stuart Skinner could be the guy in goal, we’re reaching the end of that experiment. Tuesday’s 8-3 loss to Dallas might have been the breaking point, and insiders are wondering how much longer this relationship can continue.
With Skinner all but out the door, the Oilers have turned up the heat on their search for a new goalie, which has led to blockbuster trade talks with the Blues about Jordan Binnington, and a newly increased interest in Pittsburgh Penguins netminder Tristan Jarry.

Stan Bowman wanted to play out the 2025-26 season without having to make such a move, but the results through 25 games have forced his hand, so expect action to be taken sooner than later.
Maple Leafs Looking to Make Moves
Brad Treliving has let it be known that he wants to shake up his roster, aside from the core group of star forwards. That takes the most interesting names out of play, but there remains the possibility for some activity involving other quality options.
Morgan Rielly has notably not been included among the untouchables in Toronto, so the Maple Leafs might be willing to push the needle and get uncomfortable if the right deal becomes available.
The more likely trade candidates are Max Domi and Brandon Carlo, while offseason additions in Matias Maccelli and Dakota Joshua could already find themselves on the block, having both been healthy scratched on Wednesday night in Columbus.
