J.T. Miller Rant Suggests He Lacks the Stomach for Rangers’ Retool

New York Rangers captain J.T. Miller didn’t hold back following another loss. Does he have the stromach for a full retool?

New York Rangers captain J.T. Miller didn’t hold back following another loss, delivering a brutally honest assessment that summed up the mood surrounding the team. It’s the kind of quote that makes you wonder what’s going to happen next with the Rangers, and potentially their leader.

With three losses in a row and a 2-7-1 record in their last 10 games, it’s getting ugly in New York. “We’re not getting the results. I’m not at all happy with where we’re at. This f—ing sucks,” Miller said. “Sorry about my language, but this really sucks. Losing every night, it’s really hard to stay positive. I mean, it’s really hard.”

The blunt comments came from the Rangers’ captain, a clear sign of just how frustrated things have become as losses continue to pile up. Miller made it clear the current stretch falls well short of the standard expected in the locker room.

“This is nobody’s standard or what we’re willing to accept within each other, is losing every game it feels like right now,” he said.

While frustration is high, Miller was also careful to point out that effort isn’t the issue. Execution and self-inflicted mistakes are the primary reasons the Rangers have struggled to turn hard work into wins. It’s only going to get harder as the team starts moving assets ahead of the NHL Trade Deadline, something management has already publicly stated they intend to do.

“I think it’s just constant mistakes and shooting ourselves in the foot,” Miller said. “Everybody’s really trying hard. That’s what really sucks.”

Can the Rangers and the Fans Handle a Retool?

In a market like New York, patience is thin, and expectations are high, especially for a team built to compete rather than simply hang around. The fact that the Rangers are set to go through another attempted retool will weigh on many of the players. It’s clear that Miller is already growing frustrated, and the team hasn’t even moved their big names yet.

What happens when Artemi Panarin, Alexis Lafrienere, Mike Zibanejad, Vincent Trocheck, and others are no longer on the roster? The losing will continue and only get worse. Does Miller have the patience for it?

Miller’s comments show how short his fuse might be. What’s going to happen when this gets worse?
