Jets: 3 Potential Trade Destinations for Logan Stanley

Winnipeg Jets defenseman Logan Stanley is a prime trade candidate, and here are three teams that could look to acquire him.

The 2025-26 season has been a major disappointment for the Winnipeg Jets so far. After winning the Presidents’ Trophy as the NHL’s top regular-season team last season, the Jets currently have a 22-25-8 record and are seventh in the Central Division with 52 points. They are also nine points behind the Seattle Kraken for the final wild card spot in the Western Conference.

With how poorly this season has gone for the Jets, they are expected to be sellers. Logan Stanley is one of their top trade candidates, as the 6-foot-7 defenseman is a pending unrestricted free agent (UFA) having a strong year. In 54 games so far, he has set new career highs with nine goals, nine assists, and 18 points.

Stanley’s strong play and size should make him a popular target around the NHL, so let’s look at three potential landing spots for him.

Colorado Avalanche

The Avalanche are currently at the top of the NHL standings and should be looking to add to their roster ahead of the deadline. When looking at their current roster, it is fair to argue that they could use another hard-nosed defenseman with size, especially for when the games get tougher during the playoffs. As a result of this, it would make sense for them to bring in Stanley for their bottom pairing.

Pittsburgh Penguins

The Penguins have been one of the NHL’s biggest surprises this season and are currently second place in the Metropolitan Division standings. With this, it is fair to wonder if they could look to add to their roster even if they are retooling. The left side of their blueline could use a boost, and Stanley would provide them with just that if acquired. Furthermore, at just 27 years old, he could be a nice long-term fit on the Penguins if a contract extension is a part of the deal.

Edmonton Oilers

If the Oilers want to add to their defensive depth ahead of the deadline, Stanley could make sense for them as a target. He would provide the Oilers with another solid option to work with on their bottom pairing and penalty kill if acquired. Furthermore, his $1.25 million cap hit makes him a reasonable trade target for an Oilers club with limited cap space.
