Jack Roslovic Injury Details Not For the Faint of Heart
New details shed light on the painful injury that forced Jack Roslovic out of action.
Not many offseason acquisitions around the NHL have paid off this year more than the Edmonton Oilers’ last-minute signing of Jack Roslovic on the day of their season opener. While the rest of the team stumbled out of the gate to start the 2025–26 campaign, it was Roslovic who kept them afloat, racking up 18 points (10 goals, eight assists) in his first 23 games, producing at the highest level of his career.
Unfortunately, as we know, he suffered an injury during Edmonton’s embarrassing loss to Dallas back on November 25. It wasn’t immediately clear when the injury occurred, and the lack of details—combined with the “undisclosed” designation and uncertainty surrounding his return timeline—only added to the mystery.
After weeks of speculation, Oilers reporter Jason Gregor recently revealed the nature of Roslovic’s injury, and it’s not pretty.
“He had surgery on his nuts, the blocked shot. Remember Hendricks and his can saved him; Roslovic’s can didn’t save him. Yeah, so, he told me that he could not walk for almost four days, like you’re in so much pain… I didn’t ask that in depth, all I know is there was some surgery required to fix it,”
The 28-year-old, of course, signed a one-year, $1.5 million contract to come to Edmonton just prior to the start of the 2025-26 season.
When Will Jack Roslovic Return?
Now that the extent of Roslovic’s injury is known, the focus shifts to when he’ll be back in the lineup.

Gregor went on to say that Roslovic told him his recovery is progressing as planned and that he’s hopeful to return to game action before Christmas. Early reports had suggested a return around the holiday break, so it appears he’s right on schedule—or possibly even slightly ahead of it.
Considering the details of his injury, it’s hard to imagine anyone will doubt his toughness.
The Oilers have begun to hit their stride in recent weeks, and getting both Roslovic and, eventually, Jake Walman back into the fold will only make an already dangerous team that much better.
