NHL Trades and Rumors
Insider Connects Two Canadian Teams to Blues Star Winger
Jordan Kyrou remains in the rumor mill, and insiders have linked two Canadian teams to the star winger.
Doug Armstrong and the St. Louis Blues are open for business and have been for quite some time now. Another sluggish start has frustrated everyone in the organization, and this time around, they may not wait for a miraculous second-half run to try to save the season.
Because of that, very few players are considered untouchable in the Gateway City, which has put plenty of intriguing names on trade target boards around the NHL — one of the most notable being star winger Jordan Kyrou.
While currently on injured reserve with a lower-body injury, Kyrou continues to draw significant league-wide interest as a player who can help any team both now and in the future. We’ve heard plenty of rumors linking him to the Montreal Canadiens in recent months; however, according to insiders Jeremy Rutherford and Chris Johnston, the Vancouver Canucks, and Ottawa Senators are two other Canadian teams worth keeping an eye on in his sweepstakes.
“There was a lot of speculation last summer that he could be dealt before his no-trade clause kicked in July 1, but the date passed, and he remained on the roster. Now the question is whether he’s the type of player that Steen wants in his core. If not, it seems conceivable he could be moved because there are teams interested. Armstrong said there isn’t a trade proposal that a club could put on the table where he would say, “No, we could never ever consider that.”… What teams might be interested? Vancouver Canucks, Ottawa Senators, New Jersey Devils,”
The 27-year-old Kyrou is in the third season of the eight-year, $65 million extension he signed with the Blues back in 2022. He’s produced 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) in the 28 games he’s been available to play in 2025-26.
What Would It Cost The Canucks or Senators To Land Jordan Kyrou?
Armstrong may be willing to move Kyrou, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to give him away for pennies on the dollar.

According to Rutherford and Johnston, the Blues are seeking an established NHL player of similar stature as part of a more traditional hockey trade in any potential return.
That could be tricky for Vancouver to make work, unless they’re so high on the 2022 All-Star that they’d consider moving Elias Pettersson in a deal. On the flip side, for Ottawa, that could mean a package built around Fabian Zetterlund plus additional assets, though it’s still very questionable whether that would get it done.
There’s no question Kyrou would fit nicely with either the Canucks or Senators. That said, unless St. Louis is willing to adjust its stance and accept a more future-focused return, it may be tough for either team to pull this off.
