Insider Connects Three Teams to Potential Steven Stamkos Trade

With Steven Stamkos’ name floating around the rumor mill, insider Cam Robinson revealed three potential suitors in a trade.

The Steven Stamkos experiment in Nashville just has not worked. While we’re only 18 games into year two of said tenure, it’s abundantly clear that the fit doesn’t make sense for the player nor the team.  Trade speculation has been heavy in the rumor mill over the past two weeks, and one analyst has three teams pegged as potential destinations.

The Predators’ (5-9-4) struggles have led to increased noise and speculation about the futures of several veterans on the roster, none more than Stamkos. After a down first season as a Pred, it’s been even worse in 2025-26 for the two-time Rocket Richard Trophy winner, who sits with a measly four points (three goals, one assist) in 18 games.

Given his play and contract, a move could be difficult to pull off; however, according to insider Cam Robinson, the Florida Panthers, Anaheim Ducks, and Toronto Maple Leafs are three suitors to keep in mind for a Stamkos trade.

Stamkos trade Maple Leafs
Could Stamkos be traded to the Maple Leafs?

“If he did leave, the first preference would be to go to somewhere with a warmer climate, and so the first thing you think of is Florida Panthers… but the other one I was thinking about too is Anaheim, they have cap space, they have a very very young team, but the one I was told has maybe even more than just kicked the tires on Stamkos is the Toronto Maple Leafs,” Robinson said.

The 35-year-old is in the second season of the four-year, $32 million contract he signed to come to Nashville as a UFA in 2024.

Could a Return to Tampa Bay Work for Steven Stamkos?

Florida, Anaheim, and Toronto are all intriguing options for Stamkos and will certainly be in the mix to land the veteran sniper.

That being said, when he mentions a warmer climate, how can you not immediately think about a return to the Tampa Bay Lightning?

The Bolts have surprisingly struggled on the man advantage this season, 24th in the league in power play percentage. Oliver Bjorkstrand hasn’t been getting the job done as the trigger man on the left side, taking passes from Kucherov and company, and we know Stamkos can handle that role with the best of them.

Cap space will be a major hurdle, but if Stamkos truly wants out of Nashville to join a contending team that resides in a warm-weather state, Tampa Bay jumps off the page as an obvious destination.
