Injury Update As Joseph Woll Leaves Game for the Maple Leafs
The Maple Leafs face uncertainty with Woll injured. Learn about his condition and the team’s performance in his absence.
Goaltender Joseph Woll left Thursday’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Carolina Hurricanes before the start of the third period due to a “lower-body injury.” The severity of Woll’s injury was unknown, as the netminder didn’t return to the game. As per head coach Craig Berube: “We’ll see tomorrow.”
When asked how severe the injury might be, Berube responded, “Right now, I can’t give you that answer. I really don’t know. Hopefully it’s not, but I really liked the way Beast came in and handled it. Dennis Hildeby came on in relief, making nine saves and not allowing a goal in a 5-1 win for Toronto.
The injury news is obviously not good for the Maple Leafs. Anthony Stolarz has still not skated since Nov. 11, and that leaves the Leafs down their two starting netminders.

The Maple Leafs will now be relying on Hildeby to take on a much bigger role. Even if Woll’s injury isn’t serious, the fact that he’s continually dealing with issues this season and Stolarz has not been available, the Leafs have to be wondering what’s happening with their goaltending situation.
