Team Sweden announced on Tuesday that defenseman Hampus Lindholm has been named to the Olympic team, replacing the injured Jonas Brodin.
They posted on social media (translated to English), “Welcome to the Olympics, Hampus! Hampus Lindholm, Boston Bruins, has been selected to the Tre Kronor men’s Olympic squad. Hampus thus makes his Olympic debut! Lindholm replaces Jonas Brodin.”
Marcus Johansson was also named as a replacement for the injured Leo Carlsson. Johansson, 35, has 13 goals and 34 points in 48 games for the Wild.
Lindholm, a 32-year-old defenseman has 16 points in 39 games this season and has recorded 329 points across 800 NHL games with Boston and Anaheim. Lindholm previously won gold with Sweden at the 2018 IIHF World Championship.

Lindholm was certainly deserving of the shot to play; this will be disappointing news for Edmonton Oilers’ defenseman Mattias Ekholm. He was also hoping to be considered as a replacement option and was just coming off a hat-trick performance on Monday night.
Lindholm is the eighth player from the Bruins organization selected for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
