Kraken To Trade Three, Marchment Potentially as Early as Today

Frank Seravalli says trade talks involving Mason Marchment have intensified, withteams calling Seattle and a deal potentially coming soon.

NHL insider Frank Seravalli isn’t ruling out a trade involving Mason Marchment happening as soon as today, noting that interest around the Seattle Kraken forward has intensified significantly over the past week.

Speaking on Frankly Hockey, Seravalli said there is nothing officially imminent. Still, conversations between Seattle and interested teams have been frequent and heavy, with some discussions coming close to the finish line in recent days. While the Kraken aren’t necessarily pushing to make a move immediately, the level of engagement suggests Marchment could be moved.

Seattle’s freehall has been frustrating for the organization. Already sitting 32nd in the NHL in goals scored, moving another veteran forward out of the lineup presents obvious challenges. Still, there is little the team can do now to get back into the mix. Even though Marchment hasn’t produced much offensively this season, he still represents the kind of player teams like when they need someone to drag them into the fight.

Seravalli made it clear that the trade market is driving the conversation. Marchment is in the final year of his contract, carries a $4.5 million cap hit, and has a track record that appeals to contenders. He’s reached the 20-goal mark twice in his career, posted a 47-point season in Florida, and brings size, physicality, and playoff experience.

Seravalli suggested that Marchment’s lack of production may say more about Seattle’s ongoing scoring issues than the player himself. On a different roster, there’s a belief he could rediscover his offensive touch.

3 Kraken Players Likely on the Move This Season… Dallas Interested?

According to Seravalli, the Kraken are not in a position to keep veterans like Jordan Eberle, Jamie Oleksiak, and Marchment through the season without cashing in. With the team mired in a free fall—just one win in their last 11 games and no regulation wins in their last 12—the focus has shifted toward asset management rather than short-term results.

Dallas has emerged as a logical fit. With Tyler Seguin expected to be reevaluated in a few months, the Stars could have close to $10 million in LTIR cap space, making a Marchment reunion financially feasible. Brien Rea noted that the longer this situation drags on, the louder Dallas’ name—and others—will become in the conversation.

For now, nothing is done. But Seravalli’s message was clear: don’t rule out Mason Marchment as early as today and before the NHL roster freeze.
