Flyers Trade Disgruntled Zamula to Penguins For Tomasino

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Philip Tomasino from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Egor Zamula.

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Philip Tomasino from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Egor Zamula. Tomasino will report to AHL Lehigh Valley. The 24-year-old has 95 NHL points in 218 games, while Zamula recorded 41 points in 168 games with Philadelphia.

Zamula, 25, is signed through 2025-26 with a $1.7 million cap hit. The 6-foot-3 defenseman has spent his entire pro career with the Flyers, totaling 41 points in 168 NHL games and 56 points in 130 AHL games, and represented Russia at the 2020 World Juniors. He was unhappy with where things were going with the organization and was working with his agent to potentially terminate his contract.

This is good for the Flyers, who were able to get some value back in the trade.

Tomasino (24) has 95 points (34 G, 61 A) in 218 NHL games with Nashville and Pittsburgh.
