Flames GM Says Gaudreau Is Not In Dog House
Apparently, not only is Johnny Gaudreau not in terrible shape, he’s in fantastic shape and his GM says he’s never looked better.
We wrote yesterday that questions were coming out of Calgary as it pertained to Johnny Gaudreau and his not being slotted on the top line in training camp. Well, not 24 hours after the rumors circulated that maybe Guadreau was being sent a message for being out of shape, Calgary’s general manager has responded.
And, he’s not exactly happy.
Flames GM Brad Treliving cleared the air on the speculation saying Gaudreau is in tip-top condition and his place in the lineup thus far has nothing to do with training.
TSN writes that Trevliving is upset by the assumptions related to one of their better players and said, “He worked out hard during the pause and this is just one of those things and will all be established in a better sense in the next couple of days.” Treliving wouldn’t provide an answer as to why Gaudreau wasn’t on the top line with his usual linemates, but he did seem to hint that the media should find something better to talk about.
In fact, Derek Wills of Fan 960 says, “For what it’s worth, Johnny Gaudreau has “popped” for me as much if not more than any other player in first four days of #Flames Training Camp 2.0.” He added, “He looks fit. He looks fast. He’s been absolutely flying. Just my two cents.”

Treliving added, “Johnny Gaudreau has never looked better.” It’s interesting that with such strong counter-arguments against Darren Dreger’s initial report, where exactly did Dreger get his information from.
