Filip Hronek’s Agent Sends Clear Message About Value To Canucks

Agent Allan Walsh is Filip Hronek’s biggest supporter and he is shutting down trade rumors.

Agent Allan Walsh isn’t shy about taking to social media to defend his clients. One of the players he defends the most out of anyone is Filip Hronek, who finds himself in trade rumors recently with the Vancouver Canucks heading toward a rebuild. While teams are wary of using the term ‘rebuild,’ opting instead for ‘retool,’ it seems Walsh wants the Canucks to take the same approach.

A retool happens when the organization doesn’t trade all its veteran players. They identify a couple of veterans who are valuable to them in the near-future, and attempt to quickly re-enter their contending window with a combination of those players and young, fresh faces. Walsh believes that Vancouver is heading in that direction, and Hronek will be one of the veterans tasked with that responsibility.

It isn’t the first time this week that Walsh defended Hronek on social media. He replied to a post on X that quoted Elliotte Friedman saying that the defenseman could be a possible trade target if he decided to waive his no-trade clause.

“This is just wasted air. Great players are in demand everywhere. But the NHL is not fantasy hockey. Why bring up players that are not available for trade? Vancouver management and coaches are happy with Fil and Fil has no interest in going anywhere else.”

Filip Hronek, Canucks’ No. 1 Defenseman?

Hronek is now playing a big role for the Canucks after they traded Quinn Hughes to the Minnesota Wild. He is quietly on pace to tie his career-high in points with 48, which he achieved in Vancouver’s memorable 2023-24 season.

This season’s circumstances are very different, as Vancouver is without much of its core and could lose another player if Elias Pettersson waives his no-trade clause and they find a suitable partner. There could be a scenario where Hronek and Brock Boeser are the only members of that core remaining.

Hronek is in just the second year of an eight-year deal with Vancouver. Walsh may not want his client to leave the Canucks, but if the Czech defender wants to contend for a Stanley Cup, it might not happen with this organization for most of the length of the deal.
