Cole Caufield Makes History With OT Heroics for Canadiens

Cole Caufield became the fastest player in NHL history to score 10 overtime goals, reaching the mark with two seconds left in OT on Thursday.

Montreal Canadiens star Cole Caufield continues to wow NHL fans and remind Habs followers about how special a player he is. On Thursday night, Caufield scored an overtime winner with just two seconds remaining to defeat the Nashville Predators by a score of 3-2. The Bell Centre was buzzing, and with that goal, Caufield became the fastest player in NHL history to reach 10 career overtime goals. He is now tied for the franchise record for OT goals.

Caufield reached the feat in just 292 games — surpassing Frank Finnigan’s previous record of 304 games.

Caufield’s heroics were the latest in a string of clutch performances, and on Thursday, the OT goal came after he tied the game with 20 seconds remaining in regulation.

The 24-year-old’s extraordinary ability to deliver in high-pressure situations hasn’t gone unnoticed. Pierre McGuire praised the impact of new coach Marty St. Louis, noting that Caufield has flourished under his guidance. Meanwhile, young defenseman Lane Hutson spoke up for Caufield, suggesting he deserves consideration for Team USA at the Olympics.
