Blues Sign Broberg to Big Long-Term Contract Extension
The St. Louis Blues have signed defenseman Philp Broberg to a new six-year extension.
The St. Louis Blues have signed defenseman Philp Broberg to a new six-year extension worth $8 million per season. This is a deal that works well for both sides. The Blues avoid a short-term deal and having to revisit a contract again if he keeps progressing. Meanwhile, Broberg gets to become a UFA at 31 and makes a good chunk of change before then.
The 24-year-old has played all 45 games this season, recording 14 points, after a strong 2023–24 campaign where he led Blues defensemen at plus-21. A former eighth-overall pick, Broberg has 194 career NHL games and was recently named to Sweden’s 2026 Olympic roster.
Broberg joined the Blues on an offer sheet from the Edmonton Oilers. He fit in extremely well with the Blues after moving on and became a part of their top four. He was unlikely to get this kind of extension in Edmonton, so he’s done well to make this kind of money after making the move.
