3 Potential Trade Destinations for Calgary Flames’ Nazem Kadri
Nazem Kadri could be on the move. Discover the potential destinations for him as trade rumors heat up for the Flames.
The trade rumours around the Calgary Flames have intensified as the organization continues to navigate the early stages of its rebuild. After trading Rasmus Andersson to the Vegas Golden Knights, attention has shifted to who could be next. One of the most intriguing names on trade bait boards around the league is Nazem Kadri.
If the Flames are serious about moving the 35-year-old, there will be no shortage of interest, especially since he is not a rental. If Calgary is also willing to retain salary on his $7 million cap hit, finding a trade partner should not be an issue. With that, here are three potential destinations for Kadri.
Colorado Avalanche
A return to the Colorado Avalanche feels like the best fit for both sides. Kadri was a key piece of the Avalanche’s Stanley Cup run in 2022. However, since his departure, the team has cycled through several options at second-line centre. They have recently found some stability with Brock Nelson. Which could push Kadri to the wing or into a third-line role.
From Colorado’s perspective, adding Kadri would still strengthen their secondary scoring and solidify their depth for another deep postseason run. His familiarity with the room and the pressure of playoff hockey only add to the appeal.
Carolina Hurricanes
It has been an interesting few months for the Carolina Hurricanes, even after adding Nikolaj Ehlers this offseason. They continue searching for more clutch scoring. They play a structured and disciplined style. But when the games tighten up in the playoffs, they often lack someone who can score while playing with an edge.

Kadri checks a lot of boxes for Carolina. While he is not among the league’s elite goal scorers. He is a dependable two-way centre who can be trusted in all situations. More importantly, he brings experience and a winning pedigree. He knows what it takes, and that could make him a difference-maker in a playoff series for the Hurricanes.
Toronto Maple Leafs
The idea of Kadri returning to the Toronto Maple Leafs would instantly become one of the biggest storylines. Even after being traded, he remained a fan favourite, and many fans have been clamouring for a reunion.
While it may not be the most likely outcome, it is an interesting fit. Kadri’s style of play aligns well with how Craig Berube wants his team to compete. He would also help round out the top six. Slotting in on the second line alongside John Tavares, and brings an element the Maple Leafs have been searching for in recent playoff runs.
