Rory Kerins NHL Debut a Success With The Flames
Rory Kerins has been a star in the AHL. Tonight he got to make his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames. A night he will never forget.
Rory Kerins’ journey to the NHL has been anything but easy. He was drafted in the sixth round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, and few expected him to reach the league. However, after 98 hard-fought games in the AHL, his childhood dream became a reality.
Tonight, Kerins made his NHL debut with the Calgary Flames, proving his doubters wrong in a moment he and his family will cherish forever. His impact was felt immediately, providing the Flames with a crucial boost in Chicago. It was a huge night for a player who refused to give up on his dream.
Kerins Rewarded for Strong AHL Performance
Rory Kerins has been one of the strongest forwards in the AHL this season. He leads the Calgary Wranglers in points with 34 in 34 games. Kerins has been rewarded for his strong performance with a call-up and a place in the AHL All-Star game alongside teammate Devin Cooley.
Both players deserve full recognition. Devin Cooley has been one of the best goalies in the American League, posting a .933 save percentage, while Rory Kerins leads the league in goals. With an impressive 21 goals in 34 games, Rory Kerins has just one more goal than Ethen Frank, who recently debuted with the Washington Capitals. Frank has had two points in two games played with his first NHL goal against the Nashville Predators.
Rory Kerins followed suit in his debut. In fact, Kerins had himself a night with the Calgary Flames.

The 22-year-old got his first NHL point on his first shift. A snipe from Jakob Pelletier rewarded Kerins with an assist just 12 seconds into his NHL career. Not many players have the bragging rights for getting a point in the first minute of their career. His family was lucky enough to be in the building for this legendary moment. Later in the period, Kerins got his second NHL assist on yet another goal from Jakob Pelletier.
Both of these players had excellent games and seemed to have great chemistry together. Pelletier was awarded the first star finishing with three points, while Kerins was awarded the third star. Has Rory Kerins earned a roster spot in place of Connor Zary? The Calgary Flames are back in action tomorrow against the St. Louis Blues.
