Jack Hughes Get Blasted by Hit From Maple Leafs Max Pacioretty

Max Pacioretty delivered a rare, thunderous hit on Jack Hughes during Tuesday’s Maple Leafs-Devils matchup.

Max Pacioretty delivered a massive hit on New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes during Tuesday night’s game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Devils. It was the kind of collision rarely seen in today’s NHL, and fortunately, Hughes appears to be okay.

Check out the video below:

The series started as Hughes picked up a loose puck and was mostly stationary. Pacioretty saw the player not moving and with the puck and just steamrolled over him. It appeared to be a clean hit that looked devastating because Hughes wasn’t skating and the height difference between the two players played a factor in the visual.

The play stopped, despite no penalty, and the puck was technically still in play. It was as if the players were confused as to what to do because it wasn’t dirty, but it was a huge hit.

There will inevitably be debate about the hit and whether it was clean or dirty. Most Devils fans won’t like it. Other fans will argue it was clean and the kind of thing the NHL needs more of. Kevin Weekes contended that Hughes didn’t have the puck at the time of the hit. Some will agree. However, it appears Hughes was getting rid of the puck just as Pacioretty was coming in for the hit. It was a split-second difference.
