Ducks Listening to Trade Proposals on Defenseman Josh Manson

The Anaheim Ducks are reluctantly fielding calls on defenseman Josh Manson ahead the the April 12th NHL trade deadline.

Pierre LeBrun reports during a recent TSN Insider Trading segment that, as hesitant as the Anaheim Ducks are to move Josh Manson, the team is listening to offers on the player ahead of the 2021 NHL Trade Deadline. LeBrun notes, considering the Ducks season and where they are at in the standings, if a good offer is presented, they will take it seriously.

This is interesting because teams are looking for a right-shot defenseman ahead of the trade deadline and with clubs not out of the playoff picture yet, some of the bigger names may not be moving. David Savard is a name that gets a lot of attention now, not only because he’s a viable top-four d-man on most teams, but because he’s one of only a handful of good options available. If Manson gets added to the list, it changes things.

LeBrun does acknowledge the price is very high and teams are going to have to step up, “We’re talking a top prospect and a first-round pick,” says the NHL insider. The Ducks really like him and his rugged style of play becomes even more of an attractive asset for teams heading into the playoffs. He brings toughness and veteran leadership to the Ducks, which is something they’ll value during their rebuild. Don’t be surprised if he ultimately winds up not going anywhere.

Teams that have shown interest so far are believed to be the Winnipeg Jets and Carolina Hurricanes. “But again, you’re going to have to pay a price to get him out of Anaheim.”
