Carolina Trades Julien Gauthier to the Rangers

According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the Carolina Hurricanes have dealt Julien Gauthier to the New York Rangers for Joey Keane in what is being seen as a prospects deal.

According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the Carolina Hurricanes have dealt Julien Gauthier to the New York Rangers for Joey Keane in what is being seen as a prospects deal.

Gauthier, 22, was the 21st-overall pick by the Hurricanes in the 2016 NHL draft. He has appeared in five career NHL games, all this season, posting one assist. He was much more effective in the AHL with the Charlotte Checkers, Gauthier where he posted 26 goals and 37 points over 44 games this season.

Joey Keane was a third-round pick with the Rangers in 2018, and leads AHL defencemen in goals this season with eight. The 20-year-old has 30 points over 49 games with the Hartford Wolf Pack in 2019-20.
