The NHL’s Biggest Sellers
Who will be this year’s biggest sellers at the deadline? Could it be the Detroit Red Wings, LA Kings or San Jose Sharks? We’ll find out over the next few weeks.
The Kings have made it known that Tyler Toffoli and Alec Martinez are available while the Sharks aren’t looking to shake up their core despite a lousy season. Detroit is in full rebuild mode and GM Steve Yzerman has said he wants to be active. Expect them to move a number of pieces.
Are the Montreal Canadiens going to move a player like Ilya Kovalchuk despite how well he’s fit in with the roster and contributed? What about a defenseman like Jeff Petry or forward like Tomas Tatar?

Will the Rangers Move Or Trade Chris Kreider?
Kreider is arguably the biggest name rumored to move before the deadline and he’s at the top of most insiders trade boards. Interestingly, there’s a ton of uncertainty when it comes to whether or not the New York Rangers will actually trade him.
He’ll be well compensated in the summer so will the Rangers hand over a deal that will see him make anywhere close to what he’ll make as a UFA? Teams will be watching closely and there’s already news the Boston Bruins are holding off on a deal for Toffoli in hopes Kreider’s availability is confirmed. Once a Kreider decision goes public, expect a ton of dominos to fall.

Will the Flames Spend Their Money?
One of the few teams in the Pacific Division with money to spend at the deadline, the Calgary Flames are rumored to be ready to spend some cash. Seeking a right-shot top-six forward, speculation is they have their eyes on Tyler Toffoli but there are also rumblings something might in the works between themselves and the Maple Leafs.
Could Calgary and Toronto pull off one of the biggest trades this deadline and switch a talented forward for a defenseman, potentially helping both sides improve in areas of need?
